The Perfect Pulled Pork Sandwich Recipe
A pulled pork sandwich is the ultimate comfort food—tender, slow-cooked pork piled high on a toasted bun with tangy coleslaw and rich barbecue sauce. Follow this recipe to create a mouthwatering meal that will impress your guests.
Ingredients:
For the Pulled Pork:
- 3-4 lb pork shoulder (or pork butt)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Sandwich:
- 4 brioche buns (or sandwich rolls)
- 1 cup coleslaw (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with olive oil, then evenly coat with brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb flavors.
2. Slow Cook the Pork
Place the pork in a slow cooker and pour in apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours until the meat is tender and falls apart easily.
3. Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Mix in some of the cooking juices to keep the meat moist and flavorful.
4. Toast the Buns
Melt butter in a pan over medium heat and toast the buns until golden brown.
5. Assemble the Sandwich
Place a generous portion of pulled pork onto the bottom bun. Drizzle with BBQ sauce and top with coleslaw. Add the top bun and serve immediately.
6. Serve and Enjoy!
Pair your pulled pork sandwich with crispy fries, pickles, or a side of baked beans for a complete meal.
Enjoy your homemade pulled pork sandwich!
